8/16 release HTTP DL & ‘contest’

August 17th, 2007 by Katze

Psycho Knocker part one and Mind Distance chapter 2 are now available for http download. Please head over to the ‘ongoing’ section for links.

And,

a ‘contest’. I say ‘contest’ as in, there are no actual prizes (other than my gratitude) and a link to your website on here.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Create a header image for use on the site and forum. I’d like to add more themes to both, so people have a bit of a choice on how they want to view the site ^_~ (And I’m far too lazy to make a bunch and note: you do not have to do anything but make the image. All coding will be done by myself). So send some in, we’ll have a vote and see which ones make the grade with the general community.

The rules are as follows:

  1. Maximum of two entries per person.
  2. All entries must be 717px wide and 231px tall, and must not be larger than 250kb in .jpg or .png format only.
  3. All entries must have ‘Sakura-Crisis’ on them somewhere. No other text is permitted (Exceptions: text that was already on the image if it isn’t intrusive, and tinytext brushes)
  4. All entries must include images from one or more of our past or present works. It can be one single series, several different ones, whatever.
  5. Absolutely no sex or explicit nudity. Nudity above the waist is fine.
  6. You may use any colours you wish.

If you’d like to come play, then create your images and send them to sakuracrisis @ gmail dot com with the subject heading ‘Header Contest’ and the following information:

  • Your name or handle (if you have a livejournal, please include your username. The voting poll will be done via the LJ community.)
  • The series your header(s) is/are from.
  • The character(s) on your header(s)
  • Your website/graphics journal, if you have one (This is how you will be credited on the site should one of your headers be chosen, otherwise it will just be your name.)
  • Your header(s) attached to the email. Please make sure your header filenames include YOUR name, so I don’t accidentally mix you up with someone else

The deadline is September 1st at 18:00 (6 PM) Pacific. All entries will then be compiled and posted to the livejournal community for user voting (depending on how many entries we get, the poll may have to be split into two). Please note that at the moment, there is no ‘top #’ that will be chosen (meaning I’m not limiting it to the top 3 headers, it all just depends on how many entries we receive).

Until next time, have fun, ladies and gents!

RELEASE; and other stuff.

August 16th, 2007 by Katze

Hot off the presses, ladies and gentlemen, we have releasesssss.

Drop by #sakura-crisis on irc.irchighway.net to grab Kaori Yuki’s Psycho Knocker part 1 and Hashiba Rinta’s Mind Distance chapter 2. (Those of you IRC impaired, you’ll be able to get them from the site tomorrow.) [Edit: Thanks to my brother being made of awesome and seeding, you should now be able to grab them from Bittorrent too. Psycho Knocker pt 1 and Mind Distance ch 2.]

As there are very few people in the channel currently (and my connection is ass), those who wish to help serve our releases may PM Nagi-kun in the channel for a direct http link for faster getting and serving.

As it stands at the moment, we are currently working (mostly) on stuff we already had scans/translations for from before we died. As such, we are currently looking for scans of Boys Next Door in Chinese to complete the rescanlation, as well as scans for the rest of Mind Distance in Japanese (though I will be trying to get my hands on this pretty soon).

And what else, there was something else–

Oh yeah.

I’m currently in the process of uploading zips of completed works and completed volumes, so look out for those (most are up, actually, and linked, there’s only a few more to go.)

…ANYWAY. Come. Play with us. We love you 8D

Almost there!

With a shiny layout, even.

Sitely stuff

There will be a release (hopefully) sometime this week; but for now, hold your horses. All releases will be IRC-only for the first 24 hours, then available on the site for http download; so I encourage you to come visit us in our channel at #sakura-crisis on irc.irchighway.net. Chat, serve, fangirl/boy, and get new releases before everyone else (dedicated servers will even get them before they’re released, so poke Nagi-kun in the channel if you’ve got a decent connection and want to serve our releases). XD; Check the IRC link for our channel rules.

There have been a few changes in the FAQ, so please check them out.

Currently I do not have project pages completed, but if you check out the links in the sidebar, you can find downloads of all our projects. Projects that have been dropped, but not licensed are still available for download.

If you notice a bug in the current site layout, please send me an email at sakuracrisis @ gmail.com with the following information:

  • Your browser (IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera, whatever)
  • Your operating system (Windows, Mac OS, whatever)
  • A description of the problem you’re having.
  • A screencap or two of your problem.

Doing this will enable me to try to fix the problem (layout has been tested in Firefox and IE using Windows XP Pro) and make the site nice and shiny for everyone.

Dropped Projects

While S-C will be continuing several of its previous projects, the following is a list of projects that we will not be doing anymore, or have otherwise been removed from the site.

  • Casino Lily (licensed)
  • Count Cain: Cain Saga (licensed)
  • Yamada Tarou Monogatari (picked up by Kagami)
  • Blood Hound (picked up by Missa)
  • Fairy Cube (Completed by The Wafflehouse)

Count Cain and Casino Lily have been removed from the site. Please do not ask for them, we will not give you the scans.

New Forum!

Sakura-Crisis has a new forum; the link can be found on the sidebar. Feel free to join and chat, but be sure to check the rules in the Announcements forum :)

We are still looking for Japanese and Chinese translators, as well as editors. At the present we have three translators, which naturally is not nearly enough to keep our editors busy (we don’t want to burn our lovely ladies out!). We are still looking for some editors, but if you are accepted you may not be assigned something right away. If you’re interested in helping out, check out this post in the forum - the editor test and Japanese translation test can be downloaded there.

I… think that’s it for now, will edit this post if I think of something else. Until next time!

Staff Hunt

July 26th, 2007 by Katze

In light of being reborn, we are definitely looking for new staff, Japanese translators in particular. What we’re in need of at the moment: Dedicated translators (JP/CH), and experienced editors willing to work on pretty much anything we throw at them (though if something really squicks you, we’re nice enough to not intentionally put you on it).

All staff should be able to complete at least one 35 page chapter/oneshot/doujinshi a month.

Translators:
Should have at least two years of formal (college level) classes under their belt and a reasonably complete dictionary. For JP-EN translators, the ability to translate without furigana is a huge plus, but not required. Translations should be as close to the original as possible - clearly with artistic license for those things that just sound weird otherwise. Freetalks and SFX are not required to be translating, but they are good to have. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Katze (kamioakira at gmail dot com) for the translator test (we currently do not have a CH translation test, and JP translators are what we need most at the moment).

Editors:

Editors should be experienced in Photoshop or a similar program, be good friends with levels, contrast, the clone and healing tools as well as those handy dandy paintbrushes. Other groups have ‘cleaners’ and ‘typesetters’ - we don’t have those and never have. It is the editor’s job to clean and typeset all scans (including SFX where translated.) If you’re interested in helping out, please contact Katze (kamioakira at gmail dot com) for the editor test.

Scanners:

At the present moment, we are not looking for new scanners (read exception at the end) - but once we get underway we may put out a call. If you have something you think we might be interested in, scan a few pages and send it in with as much info as possible (author, title, etc) so we can have a look. Manga must be in Chinese or Japanese only.
Exception: We are looking for scans for part 3 of Boys Next Door in Chinese so we may complete the rescanlation.

Anyway. If you think you can help, give us a buzz!

Sakura-Crisis will live again!

July 11th, 2007 by Katze

You heard right, Sakura-Crisis will once again continue activities. Some projects will be dropped, we’ll get some new ones, fun for all. The site probably won’t be completely up until the end of July/beginning of August, so please hang on a bit ^^

Of course, this means we’re definitely looking for new staff - experienced translators (Japanese/Chinese), editors and scanners (CH/JP). If you’re interested in joining or helping out even on one chapter, please see this post on the LJ community for info and what would be expected of you.

If you’re looking for scan downloads, go over here for the temporary page until I get everything together. ‘Til then!

Edit: I forgot to mention regarding comments - you must have the name and email fields filled out in order to post a comment. If you have never left a comment before, it will go into the moderation queue, but after your first comment is approved, your comments will go straight to the page provided you use the same name and email address you previously used. This will probably change in the future as the spambots start coming along, but for now it’s good enough for me. Rude or hurtful comments (towards the site, its staff, or anyone - straight up flames will not be tolerated, if you don’t like something, hold your tongue or leave.) will be deleted on sight, as well as comments asking when we will update something, etc. (Though this is not to say that only happy fluffy ‘good job!’ ‘we love you’ ‘you’re awesome!’ comments will be allowed, we’re not that full of ourselves.)
