Staff Hunt

July 26th, 2007 by Katze

In light of being reborn, we are definitely looking for new staff, Japanese translators in particular. What we’re in need of at the moment: Dedicated translators (JP/CH), and experienced editors willing to work on pretty much anything we throw at them (though if something really squicks you, we’re nice enough to not intentionally put you on it).

All staff should be able to complete at least one 35 page chapter/oneshot/doujinshi a month.

Translators:
Should have at least two years of formal (college level) classes under their belt and a reasonably complete dictionary. For JP-EN translators, the ability to translate without furigana is a huge plus, but not required. Translations should be as close to the original as possible - clearly with artistic license for those things that just sound weird otherwise. Freetalks and SFX are not required to be translating, but they are good to have. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Katze (kamioakira at gmail dot com) for the translator test (we currently do not have a CH translation test, and JP translators are what we need most at the moment).

Editors:

Editors should be experienced in Photoshop or a similar program, be good friends with levels, contrast, the clone and healing tools as well as those handy dandy paintbrushes. Other groups have ‘cleaners’ and ‘typesetters’ - we don’t have those and never have. It is the editor’s job to clean and typeset all scans (including SFX where translated.) If you’re interested in helping out, please contact Katze (kamioakira at gmail dot com) for the editor test.

Scanners:

At the present moment, we are not looking for new scanners (read exception at the end) - but once we get underway we may put out a call. If you have something you think we might be interested in, scan a few pages and send it in with as much info as possible (author, title, etc) so we can have a look. Manga must be in Chinese or Japanese only.
Exception: We are looking for scans for part 3 of Boys Next Door in Chinese so we may complete the rescanlation.

Anyway. If you think you can help, give us a buzz!

Sakura-Crisis will live again!

July 11th, 2007 by Katze

You heard right, Sakura-Crisis will once again continue activities. Some projects will be dropped, we’ll get some new ones, fun for all. The site probably won’t be completely up until the end of July/beginning of August, so please hang on a bit ^^

Of course, this means we’re definitely looking for new staff - experienced translators (Japanese/Chinese), editors and scanners (CH/JP). If you’re interested in joining or helping out even on one chapter, please see this post on the LJ community for info and what would be expected of you.

If you’re looking for scan downloads, go over here for the temporary page until I get everything together. ‘Til then!

Edit: I forgot to mention regarding comments - you must have the name and email fields filled out in order to post a comment. If you have never left a comment before, it will go into the moderation queue, but after your first comment is approved, your comments will go straight to the page provided you use the same name and email address you previously used. This will probably change in the future as the spambots start coming along, but for now it’s good enough for me. Rude or hurtful comments (towards the site, its staff, or anyone - straight up flames will not be tolerated, if you don’t like something, hold your tongue or leave.) will be deleted on sight, as well as comments asking when we will update something, etc. (Though this is not to say that only happy fluffy ‘good job!’ ‘we love you’ ‘you’re awesome!’ comments will be allowed, we’re not that full of ourselves.)
